You are not a real Island Bay local until you have swum to/from the Island!
Now is your chance to swim from Tapu te Ranga island towards the roar of encouragement coming from the shore!
The wonderful folk from the Lyall Bay Surf Life Saving Club will provide their services to make your swim as safe as it can be. They will give competitors a lift out to the island in their IRB, as well as providing surf life savers on paddle boards and rescue boats around the course. All you need to be is a competent swimmer in open water conditions and be able to do is breaststroke/freestyle/doggie-paddle/backstroke your way to the beach beside the outflow pipe.
Meet at the beach opposite Beach Street for registration and briefing at 9.30. Competitors will be ferried to the Island at 10 am
Once you get there you will receive a rapturous welcome and a certificate to acknowledge your accomplishment.
